Real Estate Marketing is Changing

by Doug Jones on September 1, 2009

Back when I was new to this business and a  little wet behind the ears, the guys in my office would swear by the local classified advertisement.  “Run an ad in The Denver Post” they would claim.  Do it on a Saturday, and sell it on Sunday.

How things have changed.  According to the National Association of Realtors, over 80% of homebuyers start their search on the world wide web.  Yes, it’s the internet that is changing how Realtors market their listings.  My own clients have told me that unless the property has pictures or a virtual tour, they don’t even bother looking!

Other agents in my office and I have discussed how new listings used to get showings right after the home went into the MLS system.  Now, the showings usually don’t start until after a few days of populating all of the websites for buyers to see.

Sure, the real estate market is challenging.  With the right targeted marketing, you can create the exposure needed to get buyers to the home.  And that’s what real estate marketing is all about;  trying to get the qualified buyers into the home to make a buying decision.
